Nancy A. Collins – The Wonder Woman of Horror and Urban Fantasy

Nancy A. Collins is the award-winning author of numerous urban fantasy, multi-genre, and Southern Gothic tales, as well as her groundbreaking vampire series and DC Comics’ Swamp Thing. She joins us to talk about her epic run on Swamp Thing and her amazing career.

GUEST BIO:

Nancy A. Collins has authored more than 20 novels and novellas and numerous short stories. She has also worked on several comic books, including a two-year run on the Swamp Thing series. She is a recipient of the Bram Stoker Award and the British Fantasy Award, and has been nominated for the Eisner, John W. Campbell Memorial, and International Horror Guild Awards. Best known for her groundbreaking vampire series Sonja Blue, which heralded the rise of the popular urban fantasy genre, Collins is the author of the bestselling Sunglasses After Dark, the Southern Gothic collection Knuckles and Tales, and the Vamps series for young adults. Her most recent novel is Left Hand Magic, the second installment in the critically acclaimed Golgotham urban fantasy series. She currently resides in Norfolk, Virginia, with a Boston terrier.

Mark Borchardt is a writer and filmmaker residing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Some of his films include “Coven,” “The Dundee Project” and the forthcoming “The More the Scarier VI.” He has written numerous plays, three of which were produced in various shorts festivals from Milwaukee to Los Angeles. He also wrote and produced radio dramas including the venerated “Nightrun.”

S.T. Joshi – The Weird World of Horror Fiction

Join us for an in-depth conversation with scholar S.T. Joshi, one of the foremost authorities on H.P. Lovecraft. We will also be exploring the world of “weird fiction” as S. T. discusses some of the most controversial writers from the period of 1880-1940, including Arthur Machen, Algernon Blackwood, Lord Dunsany, M. R. James, and Ambrose Bierce.

GUEST BIO

S. T. Joshi is a freelance writer and editor. He has prepared comprehensive editions of H.P. Lovecraft’s collected fiction, essays, poetry, and letters and other critical and biographical studies of supernatural fiction. He also prepared textually corrected and annotated editions of Ambrose Bierce, Arthur Machen, Lord Dunsany, and other weird writers. With David E. Schultz, he has begun a long-range project to edit Lovecraft’s collected letters, in a projected 25 volumes.
